If ADHD inconsistency makes you feel like a bad person — read this

The Weekly Level Up

Let's level up our ADHD lives a little, shall we?

If you've ever been called inconsistent, unreliable, or flaky (by yourself or others) ...

If you've ever watched yourself drop the ball on something important and thought, "What is wrong with me?"...

If you've ever heard someone say (or thought to yourself): "If you really wanted to do it, you would"...

The most recent episode of ADHD Adult(ish) is for you.

Here's the Thing About ADHD Inconsistency

We're capable, but not consistent. And that inconsistency drives everyone (including us) absolutely bananas.

You might crush it one day like a productivity demigod, and the next day you're lying on the floor doom-scrolling for 12 hours straight.

And it may look like laziness or just lack of give-a-shit. But this isn't about willpower or not caring enough.

It's about how ADHD brains are wired when it comes to motivation, working memory, and dopamine. And when people (or our own inner critics) don't understand that, it can absolutely wreck our self-worth ... and our relationships.

What I Cover in This Episode

In this podcast, I'm breaking down:

  • Why you can perform amazingly in one area but fall apart in another.
  • The truth about "interest-based" nervous systems (and why interest alone still isn't enough).
  • What's actually happening in your brain when you WANT to do something but ... can't.
  • The emotional fallout for you AND the people around you.
  • Practical strategies to work WITH your brain instead of constantly feeling like you're failing.

This isn't about making excuses. It's about understanding what's actually getting in the way, so you can build systems that can help.

And if this resonates? Share it with someone in your life who's seen your inconsistency but maybe hasn't understood what's behind it.

Cheers,
Kim

P.S. I'll be at the International ADHD Conference in Kansas City next week, and I can't wait to bring back some new ideas and insights to share. If there's a topic or question you'd love to hear more info on, hit reply and let me know!

The Weekly Level Up Let's level up our ADHD lives a little, shall we? You know that moment when you're staring at your overflowing inbox, the calendar of 10 different themed outfits your third grader needs this month, a tangled mess of Christmas lights that you swear you put away neatly last year, and your 23rd holiday party invitation .... and your brain says, "Not just no, but hell no"? Same. December has a way of taking all our ADHD challenges and throwing tinsel, social obligations, sugar...

The Weekly Level Up Let's level up our ADHD lives a little, shall we? If you have ADHD — or you’re raising a tiny ADHD human — you already know that multi-step instructions are the enemy. You tell your kid, “Go brush your teeth, put on your shoes, and grab your backpack.” And what happens? They run off to do the thing. Their brain only processes step one. Five minutes later, they’re standing in the kitchen holding their toothbrush, looking confused. Been there. So, here’s what I've been doing...

The Weekly Level Up Let's level up our ADHD lives a little, shall we? Here's something I wish someone had told me years ago: Joy is not something you have to earn. Not with productivity. Not with a clean house. Not with a cleared inbox or a perfectly executed morning routine. But when you live with ADHD, it can feel like joy needs to be deserved. Like you haven’t done “enough” to earn the right to relax. Like fun, rest, or even a snack you enjoy has to be withheld until you’ve suffered your...
